Made to Specification
Click here to read Exodus 37
Exodus 37 talks about how the craftsman made the Ark, the Table, the Lampstand and the Altar of Incense. Reading through the passage sounds very familiar as we have read through. Indeed, the making of the Ark, the Table and the Lampstand is recorded in chapter 25, and the making of the Altar of Incense is recorded in chapter 30. Why did the author repeat it?
Actually, the author did not repeat. Chapters 25 and 30 recorded the specification of the objects to be built. Whereas chapter 37 recorded the actual work done. I suppose the author was inspecting the things done to see if they adhered to the specification. The result is it fulfilled the requirement to the finest details. How did they achieve that? They did not have engineering drawings then. Based on a verbal description, Bezabel could do it accordingly. That is no small miracle. It was God working through him. No, that does not mean that he does not need to put in the effort, but it means that he gets the guidance of God. However, the same miracle happens in our daily lives too.
Last Sunday, I preached a sermon, and I am happy with it. You may think I am glad because I have put in a lot of effort in preparation. Indeed I have put in a lot of effort. Yet, I don’t think that is the reason. The real reason was I felt the presence of God as I preached. That is important because I knew I was not alone.
I don’t think that is limited to God’s ministry. I experienced the presence of God in the past when I did consultation work. It does not reduce the effort I have to put in but enhances the work and builds confidence.
I pray that you will allow God to lead you in whatever you do and experience His presence when you deliver. Although it does not reduce the effort you must put in, the outcome is surprisingly satisfactory. Try it, and pray for God’s guidance in your works and ministries. May you experience His presence and guidance in all the things you do. Blessing!
